Nestled just outside Kiruna in the heart of Swedish Lapland, Máttaráhkká Lodge offers an intimate, family-run escape surrounded by pristine Arctic wilderness. With only seven rooms, the lodge blends rustic charm and modern comfort. Guests can relax fireside in the lounge or dine with panoramic views of snow-draped mountains. The rooftop hot tub offers a magical vantage point for Northern Lights sightings. Ideal for couples or small groups, this warm and welcoming lodge is the perfect base for Arctic adventures - from dog sledding to Sami cultural encounters - and authentic northern hospitality.
DAY 1 - Kiruna
Fly to Kiruna (via Stockholm) where someone from the lodge will pick you up and take you to the lodge. Check in and collect your winter gear, then enjoy a set 3-course dinner. You might like to spend some time in the roof-top hot tub with a 360° view to the night sky!
DAYS 2 - 4
Husky Sledding - Today you will meet the owner’s good friends from Husky Home. They will share their passion for the way of life as a musher in the Arctic, and you, as a guest, will experience a bit of the way of life in a pristine Arctic area with views and wildlife along the way. The dogsled team is divided into two people, and you will take turns driving and sitting on the sled. Back at the kennel, you will also learn to give your dogs a well-deserved massage.
Sami Reindeer Experience – Journey into the heart of Sápmi and share a truly unforgettable moment with a local Sami guide. Immerse yourself in the rich traditions, deep connection to nature, and the timeless lifestyle of the indigenous Sami people.
Gather around the crackling fire and enjoy a hearty, homemade lunch while listening to stories of life in the Arctic tundra. You’ll have the chance to meet the reindeer up close – gentle, curious creatures that have been central to Sami culture for generations.
This is more than a visit – it’s a meaningful encounter with a way of life wrapped in warmth, snow, and the magic of the north.
Snowmobile Safari to Lapland Viewpoint – As the only provider in Kiruna offering this unique adventure, Máttaráhkká invite you to discover your Arctic dreams on a premium snowmobile safari along their smooth and scenic trails, which take you deep into the Arctic wilderness, where silence, beauty, and adventure converge. At the breathtaking Lapland Viewpoint, you’ll be rewarded with sweeping views of Sweden’s highest mountain range. Journey beyond the ordinary, past the treeline, to the edge of the Arctic tundra.
Along the way, you stop at a frozen lake to soak in the silence, brew fresh coffee over an open fire, and enjoy a classic Swedish Fika in the great outdoors. Feeling adventurous? Try your hand at traditional ice fishing – a timeless Arctic pastime.
