Just over an hour’s scenic drive from Tromsø lays Malangen Resort. This fjord-side residence offers a stylish break in one of Northern Norway’s Northern Lights hot spots. You will enjoy a night in Tromsø, the ‘Capital of the Arctic’, a choice of Arctic adventures including snowmobile, husky or reindeer safari, as well as two nights in elegant and comfortable accommodation. The surrounding snow-capped mountains provide a marvellous setting for the dancing ribbons of the Aurora Borealis.

DAY 1 Tromsø

Fly to Tromsø. Transfer via ‘Flybuss’ to the Clarion Collection Hotel With, conveniently located minutes from the Arctic Cathedral, Polar Museum and right on the harbour front. The remainder of the day is at your leisure. Depending on your flight arrival time enjoy the complimentary afternoon waffles and a light evening buffet supper served between 1800-2100 each evening.

DAY 2 Tromso

Today is at leisure and free for you to choose your activities for the day. The city itself is a treasure trove of museums, cafes, bars and restaurants and spectacular views can be had from the cable car or a fjord cuirse. DAY 3 Malangen Resort

Enjoy a leisurely breakfast before checking out and transferring to Malangen Resort. The journey takes just over an hour and is a scenic revelation, following the twist and turns of the Lyngenfjord and mountains. On arrival settle into your chosen accommodation and familiarise yourself with the delightful surroundings. You may wish to relax and take lunch (payable locally) or book one of the additional excursions on offer.A delicious 3-course dinner will be served in the hotel restaurant,after which you will embark on a mission to see the Northern Lights. Malangen Resort’s location ensures that artificial light pollution is minimal, and the Aurora can appear overhead at any time during the hours of darkness, however this ‘watch’ enhances your chances further. Begin with an informative briefing about the natural wonder of the Northern Lights and the current conditions in the area, before setting off to Malangen Resort’s own wilderness retreat, located just a short 20-minute walk from the resort.The camp is ideally situated beside a peaceful lake, far from any light pollution, ensuring the best possible view of the Northern Lights. Light snacks and hot drinks are included, served in the outside lavvu.

DAY 4 Malangen Resort

We have decided to let you choose how you would like to spend your time in this idyllic location. There are many that will value doing nothing, just soaking up the peace and tranquillity of the resort, perhaps enjoying the sauna or booking a hot tub. Others may wish to work up an appetite by snowshoeing, renting a fat bike, taking a husky safari or a snowmobile excursion. Either way, you cannot fail to fall in love with the dramatic landscape and simple delights that this break brings.

DAY 5 UK

The Malangen Resort provides two transfer departures, giving you the opportunity to take full advantage of your final day in the Arctic. Depending the time of your departure flight a 09.00 transfer could allow you some more time in Tromso, or a later 16.15 departure could mean a leisurely day in Malangen* before heading to the airport for your return flight home.

Malangen Resort - Dog sledding Through The Winter Silence

Transfer to Camp Nikka where a pack of eager huskies are just waiting for their morning run into the wilderness. After full instruction, take control of your husky team and head out into the surrounding countryside. Driving in pairs, there is every chance to mush and take photos of your adventure. A hot wilderness lunch is cooked by an open fire before the exhilarating ride back home.

Malangen Resort - Enter The Wild On A Snowmobile

Specially designed for guests experiencing a snowmobile adventure for the first time, this activity takes place in a private wilderness area located a short 10 minute drive from the resort.

Participants travel along a prepared trail across an open, snow-covered field with flat terrain, providing an ideal and safe setting for beginners.

Snowmobiles are shared in pairs (one driver and one passenger), with the opportunity to switch seats halfway through the experience.

All drivers must be 18 years of age or over and hold a valid driving licence.

Malangen Resort - Snowy Forests On Skis

It is often said that Norwegians can ski before they can walk. Learn their art of cross-country skiing with this 2-hour instruction and short cross-country trek on tracks in the surrounding snow-clad forest. This is a fun activity suitable for beginners. Malangen Resort - Trappers Day On Snowshoes

Snow shoeing skills are very easy to master. Favoured by many a Norwegian explorer, this mode of transport allows access areas otherwise unreachable by machine or skis. With little effort, you quickly become immersed in the silence of the surrounding forest. Be sure to keep an eye out for some local wildlife including willow grouse or a red fox.

Malangen Resort - Insight To The Sami

Learn about the life, culture and beliefs of the Sami. Join one of this nomadic tribe in a lavvu (traditional tent) and hear tales born out of a thousand years of history. Listen to the traditional joik (chanting) as you are having a taste of some delicious Sàmi delicacy cooked by an open fire.
