A Brief Encounter with Reykjavik

It may be one of Europe’s smallest capitals, but it certainly puts many others to shame with its diversity of attractions. In close proximity are geysers, caves, hot springs and glaciers. The city centre proffers galleries, museums and sculptures which reflect the huge variety and creative and cultural background of Iceland’s population of just 321,000. Buildings owe more to nature than to architects. The plethora of restaurants on offer pride themselves on crafting culinary delights from an abundance of locally sourced products.
 
Our brief encounter to Reykjavik is designed to be flexible. Choose your hotel and combine with any one of our excursions and adventures detailed in the excursion tab.
DAY 1 - Reykjavik
Fly from a wide choice of regional airports direct to Keflavik Airport. Transfer with airport shuttle bus (or upgrade to a private transfer) and check-in at your chosen hotel.
 
DAY 2 & 3 - Optional Excursions

Into The Glacier
Iceland’s newest attraction is taking ice cap exploration to a new level. Explore a glacier inside and out at Europe’s largest man-made ice cave. Depart Reykjavik by bus and head to Langjökull glacier, where you board an 8-wheel monster truck that takes you to the entrance of the cave. 550m long and 30m below the surface, there are 5 ice chambers to explore and more.

South Coast, Waterfalls & Glacier Hike
A tour showcasing the best of South Iceland’s coast. Stop at the Seljalandsfoss and Skógafoss waterfalls, the black sand beach and basalt columns of Reynisfjoara and take an easy hike on the ancient ice of Sólheimajökull glacier. On a clear day you may have a good view of the famous volcanoes, Hekla and Eyjafjallajökull, as well as the Westman Islands, rising steeply from the ocean just a few kilometres off the coast.

Secret Lagoon & Northern Lights Hunt
The Secret Lagoon is a natural hot spring fed by mineral rich water, kept at a steady 38-40°c, perfect for bathing and relaxing. This experience epitomizes the unique Icelandic open-air geothermal bathing experience. Boardwalks and footpaths allow you to explore additional small hot springs in the immediate area. Changing rooms, showers and lockers are on hand, but do bring your own swimming costume and towel. On the return to Reykjavik, it is time to hunt for the northern lights and your experienced driver will select the best spots from where to view this natural phenomenon, should favourable conditions prevail.

ATV Two Peak Adventure
ATV Two Peak Adventure A 15 minute transfer from Reykjavik finds you at ‘Basecamp’ and kitted out for an ATV adventure that takes you off the beaten track – literally. After full instruction and safety briefing, you will head across terrain that varies from asphalt and gravel roads to mountain tracks and rocky paths. Heading towards the twin peaks of Hafrafell and Úlfarsfell, you’ll be rewarded with magnificent views across Reykjavik and the Reykjanes peninsula. This tour is suitable for beginners.
