Nellim lies barely 6 miles from the Russian border on the shores of Lake Inari, here in this most tranquil of settings, an Inari Sami family create a warm and magical atmosphere for you in which to enjoy snowmobile and husky safaris, practice the ancient Sami arts of snow shoeing and learn about The Sami Culture. The possibility of the Northern Lights swirling around over the pine forest makes for an enchanting and unforgettable experience.
 

DAY 1 UK - NELLIM
Scheduled Finnair flight(s) to Ivalo via Helsinki. Transfer to Wilderness Hotel Nellim. Programme briefing, dinner and overnight for 4 nights.
 
DAYS 2 & 3 ACTIVITIES
 
Snowmobile Safari 
Join us to experience the thrill of snowmobiling! First, you'll get familiar with the snowmobile with the local guide, who will provide full safety instructions and a driving lesson. Once everyone feels comfortable, head out for an exciting trip through the nearby surroundings. It's a thrilling way to explore the Arctic landscape and enjoy the winter wonderland.
 
Husky Safari 
This adventure will take you through stunning lakes and forests. Feel the excitement of the huskies as they get ready, and then enjoy the serene silence as they pull your sled through the beautiful winter scenery. Each sled is set up for two guests, with one mushing and the other seated in the sleigh. Halfway through the journey, you'll switch positions so both of you get to experience the thrill of mushing. (Sledge driving time approximately 1 hour).
 
Meet the reindeer 
Ever wondered what it's like to be a reindeer herder? Join in for a fun and informative tour where you'll get to meet these amazing animals up close. Your friendly guide will share stories about the Sámi culture and the important role reindeer play in the North. You'll even get a chance to feed them, they might come right up and eat out of your hand! Join us for this unique way to learn more about Northern Lapland culture.
 
Aurora Camp 
Start with a cozy sleigh ride pulled by your guide's snowmobile, taking you through the stunning Arctic landscapes to our favorite spot for viewing the Northern Lights. Once you arrive at the campsite, you'll get to enjoy hot drinks and great company while you gaze at the northern sky. Because there won’t be any light pollution, these camp spots are one of the best places to catch the Auroras!
 
Aurora Snowshoeing 
Head out for a peaceful walk through the stunning winter landscape, illuminated by the moon and the Northern Lights. Along the way, your friendly guide will share fascinating stories and information about Finnish nature and wildlife. Warm up by the campfire and wait for the Auroras to show up, while enjoying warm drinks by the fire. It's a wonderful way to explore the surroundings at a relaxed pace and experience the magic of the Northern Lights.
 
DAY 5 NELLIM – UK
Breakfast and transfer to Ivalo airport for scheduled Finnair flight(s) via Helsinki to Heathrow.

This former school house has been lovingly converted into an authentically crafted hotel that reflects the local culture. Located in an Aurora hot spot, this warm and cosy property captures the essence of rural life in Finnish Lapland, which is enthusiastically shared by its owners, Mari and Jouko. Although small, Nellim offers adaptable accommodation including hotel rooms, apartments, and cabins that are flexible enough to lodge couples, groups of friends and differing family sizes. Nellim is also home to the Aurora Bubble. Each individual and romantic pod has heating, private eco WC and a comfortable double bed from where you can view the star-lit sky. Located on the water's edge, the north facing pods have specially formulated curved glass ceilings, which allow you to watch nature unfold. In addition to the hotel’s restaurant there is a welcoming lounge and a bar handcrafted by Jouko himself.
