Skiing and The Ice Hotel

Take a ski break with a difference and combine a 3 night stay at the Ice Hotel with one night in a Snow room and a 4 night ski break at the Arctic resort of Björkliden. Lying close to the Abisko National Park, Björkliden’s setting is truly awesome with its 23 runs latticing mountains against a panorama of the frozen Lake Tornetrask and the Lapporten gap, a unique glacial valley that was the Sami reindeer herders trail to their winter grazing grounds.

With good snow depth from the beginning of February along with a good range of pistes (8 blue, 2 green, 11 red and 3 black) the skiing is suitable for all ability ranges and the resort’s proximity to the magnetic North Pole provides good chances of seeing the Northern Lights, skiing under which is something you’ll never forget. Hotel Fjället sits at the foot of the slopes, is somewhat utilitarian in appearance from the outside but the lounge bar with its log fire is the focal point of Björkliden’s après ski life and testifies to the warmth of the hospitality here. All 48 rooms have TV, telephone and WC/shower and are simply furnished in Scandinavian style. There is a sauna, gym, solarium and ski shop.

DAY 1 UK – KIRUNA
Early morning scheduled SAS flights via Stockholm to Kiruna in Swedish Lapland. On arrival, transfer to Jukkasjarvi, check in, collect thermal clothing and enjoy a guided tour of the Ice Hotel and its environs. Choice of optional excursions. Later that evening retire to your Snow Room for the most unusual night of your life.
DAY 2 ICE HOTEL
Wake up to a hot cloudberry juice, take a sauna (optional) and breakfast across at the Inn. Choice of optional excursions. Overnight accommodation in either a Nordic cabin, Northern Lights chalet or Kaamos room for 2 nights.
DAY 3 ICE HOTEL
After breakfast, once again a choice of optional excursions is available or you can just watch the day go by.
DAY 4 ICE HOTEL – BJÖRKLIDEN
Transfer by train/taxi (payable locally) to Hotel Fjallet for a 4 night stay.
DAY 5/6/7 BJÖRKLIDEN
Skiing in Björkliden.
DAY 8 KIRUNA – UK
Transfer by train/taxi to Kiruna airport (payable locally) for return flight(s) to UK via Stockholm.

ICEHOTEL - Kaamos Hotel Room

 

These double rooms are spacious and bright like Kaamos - the midwinter light, with a contemporary Scandinavian design. 
 
The double bed in some rooms can be converted into twin beds (Kaamos twin room).
