Make it a fairy tale weekend at Legoland – the original, at Billund, a village in the heart of Jutland, a mere 1 1 2 hours from Gatwick. Although replicated at Windsor some years ago, critics of both (such as our MD’s son) insist the original is the business. Its centrepiece is a miniature town all of its own with airport, dockyards, race tracks all seamlessly inter-connected by the biggest train set in the world. In the surrounding areas are “Pirate Land”; “Legoredo”, a wild west park; “Adventure Land” with its Lego version of the Florida Everglades and “Borgland” dominated by the crenellated walls of its castle. For younger children there is Duploland with its own driving school and, of course, everything is built of Lego bricks.

The Legoland Hotel is adjacent to the Park itself from which you can come and go as you please via the covered walkway. Rooms are bright and colourful and there are several bed configurations which can accommodate families. There are two restaurants, one with a special children’s buffet and the other with a more grown-up a la carte menu. There is also a bar with its own resident pianist who never tires (he too is made from Lego).

DAY 1 UK-BILLUND Cimber Stirling Airlines flight from Gatwick to Billund, two nights at Legoland Hotel which is just a short bus ride from the airport. The hotel has its own covered walkway to the Park so children can step into the magic of Legoland the moment you arrive.
DAY 2 LEGOLAND Legoland Park is more than just millions of LEGO bricks, but also DUPLO adventure land for the little ones – they can ride in a Duplo car, puff along in a Duplo train, or sit at the controls of a Duplo plane! There are more than 50 activities – on the ground, in the water and in the air – and plenty of staff to ensure that children are free to play safely throughout the park.
DAY 3 BILLUND-UK A final play in the park until Cimber Stirling Airlines flight back to the UK.
