Northern Lights Adventure

Snowmobile across the Arctic tundra in the heart of Norwegian Lapland under the mystical phenomena of the Northern Lights. Fashion your trip exactly as you would like it from our range of excursions including husky mushing, reindeer sled racing, mountain sledging and more.

Alta is a superb base camp for snow adventures and spotting the Northern Lights. Dubbed ‘the last great wilderness in Europe’, the landscape and scenery is awesomely varied both by geography and season: running the gamut of Gulf stream bathed fjord waters through vast snow clad plateaux and from the reds and golds of autumn to the slate white of winter. It’s proximity to the magnetic North Pole means you also have one of the best chances on earth (literally) of seeing the Northern Lights.

Vica Hotel Alta
Vica Alta Hotel

After some inhospitable hotel experiences as a young itinerant music teacher, Knut Rydningen firmly believes that a hotel should be ‘home from home’ and it shows. In the sympathetic renovation and extension of the original farmhouse building; in the individual fabrics and decoration of the just 24 rooms; in the ‘Haldde’ restaurant where you can have crab to die for. And, naming the hotel after his daughters Vibeka and Camilla!
