Sitting on top of Lapland’s southernmost fell is the village of Iso-Syote cloaked throughout winter in deep white snow and with breathtaking views of glistening pine covered valleys by day and, if the Gods are with you, the Northern Lights by night.
At its heart, the Iso- Syote Hotel with its panoramic restaurant serving up Sami cuisine, swimming pool, saunas and bar with gregarious Finns offers an Aga like comfort at the end of a day’s safari-ing whether by husky, snowmobile or reindeer.
During a stay here you can turn your hand to any number of snow adventures: snowmobiling through fells, across frozen tundra and lakes; day long husky mushing in the surrounding National Park, hunting for the elusive Aurora; ice fishing; kick sledding; caravanning by reindeer and ice rally driving.
Our itinerary illustrated here uses a 5 day trip plan for a Sunday departure from the UK with specified activities over the ensuing days since each operates on different days of the week. This is but a template and if you have a wish list we can design something different for you.
And of course you may want to ski!!! Running down from the top of the fjell by the side of the hotel are no less than 12 illuminated ski slopes; both half and quarter pipes; snowboard park; children’s slopes and sledding hill: facilities in other words for just about every level of experience. So you could stay here just for the skiing or extend your stay to add some on.
DAY 1 UK – LAPLAND
Scheduled Finnair flight to Kuusamo or Rovaneimi via Helsinki. Transfer to Iso-Syöte (app 11/2 hrs) and check in to your chosen accommodation choice before dinner in the hotel restaurant.
DAYS 2 – 4 ISO-SYOTE
Safari activities of your choice and/or skiing. Dinner.
DAY 5: ISO-SYOTE – UK
After breakfast, transfer to the airport for return flight to the UK
As well as rooms proper Iso Syote has an assortment of traditional log cabins and 2 storey houses huddled around it. The former have twin beds, shower and WC, TV and small sitting area; cabins can sleep up to 4 (2 on a sofa bed and 2 in a separate bedroom) and have shower/WC, clothes drying closet, sauna and veranda frontage whilst the log houses are built with deadwood log pine in the same traditional style have.
A 25km Wilderness Safari downhill from Iso Syote across Frozen Lakes and over heavy snow covered trees. Stop by an open campfire for hot drinks whilst admiring the picturesque landscape. After a short break start your engines ready to drive back up the Iso Syote Hill.

Start up your Snowmobiles and drive to the Husky Farm where your team of Huskies are eagerly waiting! After an introduction you take off with the Huskies strongly pulling your sledge. The Safari takes your through Snowy Forests and Ice covered swamps in the Syote area.

Take your Snowmobiles out and go out in search of the Northern Lights. Stop by an open campfire along the way for drinks and gaze upon the nights sky.

Drive your Snowmobile through the Snow Covered Forest to a Frozen Lake to try your hand at Ice Fishing.

Transfer to a local husky farm where the huskies are eagerly waiting for visitors to come. After a short introduction enjoy a husky sled journey through the snowy forests and ice covered lakes. Along your journey a sandwich lunch is provided by the campfire
