Enjoy St. Petersburg’s historic treasures and the Czars’ Summer Palaces with a three night cruise from Helsinki on the Finnish family owned M/S Kristina Regina. A variety of shore excursions are bookable on board ship.

As much a work of art as a city, Russia’s past capital, St. Petersburg, is a captivating cocktail of experiences.  Here you will find the Hermitage Museum, Winter Palace, St. Isaac’s Cathedral, Peter and Paul Fortress, Yusupov Palace and Rusputin rooms.  For students of history there is the Cruiser Aurora from which, in 1917, the signal was given to start the Revolution.  Out of town lies the Petrodvorets, the Summer Palace of the Czars - an unmissable sight here being the Grand Cascade, a sparkling veil of water, created by sixty four fountains, showering down in front of the Palace.

The twin funnelled Kristina Regina, newly refurbished in 2001 is owned and crewed by Finns, specialising in Baltic cruising. The series of departures this summer offer an exclusive opportunity to visit St. Petersburg without the necessity of obtaining an individual visa and with the security of on-board accommodation and a full programme of excursions.

Day 1 UK - Helsinki Scheduled flight UK to Helsinki. Self transfer to city centre. Overnight at Hotel (see page 104)

 

Day 2 Helsinki - St Petersburg At leisure before embarkation on Kristina Regina at 17.30 for overnight cruise to St. Petersburg.  Dinner, entertainment and three nights on board.

 

Day 3 St Petersburg Arrive at St. Petersburg after breakfast at 8.30.  Optional city tour followed by lunch and in the afternoon, a choice of optional excursions.  Dinner and entertainment on board.

 

Day 4 St Petersburg - Helsinki After breakfast, optional visits: to St. Isaac’s Cathedral and the Peter and Paul Fortress and, in the afternoon, Peterhof or the Hermitage art museum.  Dinner and entertainment; the ship sails at 22.30.

 

Day 5 Helsinki - UK Breakfast and arrive Helsinki 08.00 for return flight to the UK.

Peterhof

 

Magnificent fountains, waterfalls, statues and gardens grace Peter the Great’s summer palace, which is situated on the Gulf of Finland, 30 km west of St Petersburg. Restored interiors from the 18th and 19th centuries are fabulous!

St Petersburg City Tour

St Petersburg offers a stunning array of Russian baroque and neo-classical architecture. Main sights include the Bronze Horseman, St Isaac’s Square, Palace Square, Peter and Paul Fortress, the Battleship of Arora, Smolny and Nevsky Prospekt, the city’s main thoroughfare and most famous street.
